PROJECT PLAN

DESIGN CONSIDERATION

Since 2001, CWP Energy has been actively engaging with local communities to hear their views and incorporate their feedback into the development of our projects. We value community input and use it to help shape our masterplans in a way that benefits both the local area and the environment.

In addition, we carry out comprehensive site assessments that address all stages of the project lifecycle: from construction and operation to eventual decommissioning. Our site layouts are the result of an ongoing, iterative design process that reflects these considerations, ensuring a sustainable and responsible approach throughout each phase.

WHY WE CHOSE THIS SITE

CONSULTATIVE DESIGN PROCESS

The design of the Scoop Hill Wind Farm has been shaped by ongoing, iterative consultation process. In 2022, following feedback from local authorities, including Dumfries and Galloway Council, and environmental groups like NatureScot, the layout was refined further to help mitigate potential impacts.

EVOLUTION OF THE LAYOUT

The wind farm’s design has evolved significantly since Scoping, reducing the number of turbines from 90 to 60 after extensive consultations. Adjustments were made to address concerns regarding visual impact and integration into the landscape.

EXPERT ENVIRONMENTAL ADVICE

CWP Energy, has sought specialist input on key environmental factors, including landscape, visual impacts, cultural heritage, and ornithology. This advice has guided design changes to ensure the wind farm minimises its impact on local wildlife and heritage.

ONGOING MITIGATION EFFORTS

A mitigation hierarchy has been applied to minimise environmental impacts, with positive feedback from NatureScot on the design changes. Further consultations will continue to ensure the final designs meet all environmental and community expectation's.

TIMELINE

PATHING THE WAY TO

ACHIEVEMENT

Developing a wind farm involves several key stages, from site identification and feasibility studies to planning, construction, and eventual decommissioning. At each stage, there are opportunities for community involvement and feedback.

Whether it’s through public consultations during the planning process or staying informed during construction and operation, you can have your say and help shape the project. By understanding where the project is in its development, you can stay engaged and ensure that the wind farm meets the needs of both the environment and the local community.
